Full Discussion Board Rules

The Christian Connection Terms and Conditions also apply to the discussion boards, along with the following rules. Anyone found to be breaking these rules may be banned from posting, or even have their account terminated. If you have any concerns about the conduct of other members us the "Report this post" button, or contact us.

1. Personal Details/References

It is not permitted to divulge personal or confidential information about yourself or other members of the site. This includes negative descriptions of encounters with specific people (even if they are unnamed) or anything which might offend, hurt or misrepresent the person concerned, or invade their privacy. Public complaints about other people’s behaviour (even if unnamed) are not acceptable.

Likewise remember that members and non-members alike read the boards. Christian Connection strongly recommends that you do not divulge personal details (such as personal email addresses).

2. Offensive Messages and Personal Attacks

Any offensive language or messages will be removed by Christian Connection and your membership to the site may be cancelled. General nastiness also will not be tolerated. While we encourage people to air their views constant sniping, blatant unconstructiveness or incitement can be hurtful. We reserve the right to delete such messages.

Respect for Others

At all times, anybody posting on the boards should show respect for others, even if they don’t agree on issues, including matters of religion and theology. Saying that somebody with whom you disagree is “not a Christian” is not acceptable.

The Terms and Conditions state:

You agree:

- not to publish on the Web Site, or send to any other member, any harassing, libellous, privacy invading, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, tortuous, sexual, sexually suggestive, offensive, anatomical, racist, homophobic, religiously intolerant or otherwise objectionable messages to other users in any communications on or off the website;

- not to attack or undermine the traditions or beliefs of any member via the Web Site, whether directly or indirectly.

3. Monopolising and Post Length

People should not make more than two contributions at a time on the Boards. If they want to post again, they should wait at least half an hour. Having the same few people plastering their views all over the Discussion Boards can get annoying and intimidating, and prevent others from getting involved. These contributions may be removed.

Quality not quantity. Boards are not to be used as blogs. Please limit each board post to no more than 10 lines of text. Posts that are overlong can bore, irritate or even offend. They may be edited down or simply removed altogether.

4. Going off topic and Crusading

Members should keep to the topic when posting on the boards - straying off theme can get annoying.

The boards must not be used to promote personal crusades or preoccupations. This space is not here for people to pursue specific agendas and win converts. Information-sharing and debate about a range of issues and campaigns are welcome, of course, but single-issue preaching and crusading are not.

5. Problems with the Site

The Boards should not be used for members to bring up their problems with the site. If you have an issue with the site, you should get in touch with our customer service team.

6. Offloading problems

Some people have been known to use the boards to talk at length about their own personal problems and to ask for support of advice from other members to what can be an extended degree. While it can be right for us to “bear one another’s burdens” this should not be in the context of one way “offloading”. Posts which do this, will be removed. Neither the members nor the staff of Christian Connection are in a position to provide counselling in this context. In these type of situations, its better and fairer to ask for trained confidential help.

7. Libel

There are laws against defamation, slander and libel. We are subject to them. So are you. If you see anything that may come under this category, please tell us.

While these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these boards are not disrupted or abused in any way.
